KYG Events Calendar

Get your applications in so that we can get your home visits approved. Then you can be ready to adopt from our next group of hounds to come to KyG.

The unconditional love of a canine is one that cannot be explained or compared. I think that relationship is even stronger when that canine is a Greyhound. Judy's new dad, Mick, knew that bond with his greyhound Gina. Gina and Mick shared a home for over 10 years. Unfortunately, cancer took Gina on Valentine's Day 2019. Mick began his search for another greyhound and found Judy. Judy has been living the life of an adopted hounds since late March.

Pat, KyG, met Mick and Judy at Shively Animal Hospital for a follow-up for her teeth at the end of April. Dr. Joyce said Mick is doing a fine job with the daily brushing. Mick was impressed with Dr. Joyce and intends to keep going there for Judy's teeth follow-up. That will be a trek from Elizabethtown, but one I agreed with.

Do you want to be a foster parent or a permanent parent to a retired racing greyhound? The adoption application can be found under Greyt Info or clicking here: Adoption Application

We know that time is coming with the closing of the Florida tracks as well as the other hounds across the country that also still need homes.

We use the same criteria whether you want to foster or adopt, in case you decide you want to adopt your foster. We appreciate our foster families and need more to help more hounds find homes. We have prior foster families that are willing to discuss the joys of fostering: teaching a track dog "regular" life, meeting new people, basic commands, and yes the rewards (and sadness) of knowing a job well done when it is time for the greyhound to go to their permanent home.

If you cannot find the time and room in your home please consider making a donation. The "Donate Now" paw print can lead you to make donations through our PayPal account using for the email, checks can be mailed to and visit our Facebook page - KyGreyhounds or our group KyGreyhounds Friends for more information.

GREYT FEST 2019! the fun continues

July 19 - 20, 2019

You all made it so much fun, we are doing it again! Now we can truly say the KyG Greyt Fest is an annual event. We learned a lot from our inaugural Greyt Fest in 2017. Thank you for your patience.

In addition to the hounds, and people, from TX, MO, IL, IN, OH, WV, NC, SC, TN and of course KY, we added Wisconsin in 2018 and New York for 2019. Whether you were a guest, vendors or volunteers a big THANK YOU to ALL of you. It was greyt seeing old friends and making new ones. It has been a while since a festival event was held in this area and the smiles on peoples faces showed it was greyt fun. Please help us to spread the word. Some seemed to find out a little too late last year.
